Yesterday’s planned test of the Civil Defense emergency-siren system has been delayed until next Monday at 11:45 a.m.
Mark Marshall, administrator of the Kaua‘i Civil Defense Agency, said anytime there is something actively going on in the state when the once-a-month test is scheduled to happen, such as a hurricane, tropical storm or security threat, the siren test is postponed.
State Civil Defense officials made the decision to postpone the siren test out of concern Big Island residents and visitors would hear the sirens and fear Hurricane Jimena was going to hit the island, he said.
