LIHU‘E – Christmas shopping got off to an early start Saturday morning at the Wilcox Memorial Hospital as the hospital’s annual craft fair opened.
Crafters at the popular annual event specialize in items with a local touch.
The event is held in the main hallways of the hospital and draws buyers from across the island.
Crafts on sale included clothing, jewelry, Christmas decorations, Christmas cards, gift books, handmade quilt items and unique items like child-size bracelets made by young crafters.
Most items are locally made and buyers planning ahead for Christmas quickly scooped up some unique items. Other shoppers will soon be wrapping up the gifts bought at the fair for early mailing to family members and friends on the Mainland and overseas.
Another holiday craft fair is scheduled for Saturday Nov. 22 at Po‘ipu near Po‘ipu Beach Park.
