Support for Akaka bill
Kawika Cutcher
I support the Akaka bill.
It will stop the following:
1. Lawsuits against Kamehameha Schools.
2. Lawsuits filed against Hawaiian Homes.
3. Lawsuits against native entitlements.
4. Discrimination policies against Hawaiians by state and federal government concerning evictions of homeless on Hawai‘i’s beaches.
5. Nonnative control of our recourses.
Examples
1. Ocean recourses.
2. Mountain resources.
3. Harbors resources.
4. River resources.
5. Airspace resources.
6. The continuing genocide by overthrow descendants.
7. Control immigration to our islands, which corrupts our resources and native lands.
Note the bill will help us to have control of our resources.
1 . Land, ceded, homestead, trust etc.…
2. Control our culture.
3. Recognize us as the native people.
4. Give us power to file lawsuits against those trying to hurt our people’s land bases, culture, homestead etc.…
5. Help to build housing for our people.
6. Help our kupuna medical needs.
7. Protect our native gathering rights.
8. Give our people fair access to the courts on a level field.
9. Open more native businesses.
10. Open more ag. lands.
11. Make landowners of the overthrow party prove in court they have legal title to kingdom lands.
12. Open the way for native hospitals on homestead lands to treat all Native Hawaiians, Kanaka.
13. The power to enforce our own laws on our lands.
14. The power to start our own universities, such as the Maori have.
15. The power to increase wealth by opportunity to our people.
16. The power to heal generational hurts, through justice.
17. The right to dual citizenship.
18. To have a say in Hawai‘i’s future for our people’s blood rights.
19. I support the bill because there is no other avenue for justice as of now.
20. It will give us the rights to push for more justice through compensation.
The bill is not perfect, but it’s a start. Also the United Nations has no power over Hawai‘i, and for justice of the native peoples.
Across the world the UN is a sad joke.
That’s why I support the bill.
