To the writer from Oregon: Bingo! You express so well what is happening to Kaua‘i when you refer to the “current nonsense” that is turning Kaua‘i “from community to commodity.”
Too bad our planning officials (both elected and appointed) continue to allow the nonsense and fail to grasp your concept that “the local people are the owners of Kaua’i.” And shame on the real-estate agents and developers for their glee in dividing up the pie among themselves.
Terrorism
There seems to be among some the idea that if we, the U.S., would just stop our treatment of the rest of the poorer nations of the world, terrorism would disappear.
I’m sorry that some people think this way. Hatred and thus terrorism is taught, not inborn. I remember when it was OK to talk mean and hateful about certain groups of people. You all know which groups. It varies from place to place.
The American society has for years been working to teach this out of our learning experience.
And it is working. Not as fast as some might like, but it is working. We now look down at groups like the KKK.
