Blues musician and two-time Grammy award winner Keb’ Mo’ draws heavily on the old-fashioned country blues of Robert Johnson, but keeps his sound contemporary with touches of soul and folksy storytelling.
He writes much of his own material and has also applied his acoustic, electric and slide guitar skills to jazz- and rock-oriented bands in the past.
He will perform at the Kilohana Plantation Carriage House in Lihu‘e Wednesday at 7 p.m., with a special guest appearance by local musician Ken Emerson.
He won his first Grammy in 1997 for Best Contemporary Blues Record for his album “Just Like You,” a mix of traditional and contemporary blues.
His second Grammy came in 1999 in the same category for “Slow Down.” After that, he continued to receive multiple WC Handy awards, with his latest award coming in 2003. His music was also featured on NBC’s “American Dreams” and the former CBS show “Touched By an Angel.” Tickets for this Wednesday’s show, produced by Mardi Gras Entertainment, can be purchased at Scotty’s Music in Kalaheo, Bounty Music in Kapa‘a, Kai Kane in Hanalei and Progressive Expressions in Koloa.
Tickets from the show range from $30 to $35 for general admission and $50 for gold circle seats.
