Officials at the Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort & Spa and Kawailoa Development kicked off the new year by donating an assortment of fitness items to leaders of the state Department of Education on Kaua‘i, Hyatt officials said in a press release.
The articles included 11 pieces of FLEX strength-training equipment from the Grand Hyatt Kauai’s ANARA Spa, framed pictures, sports water bottles, and miscellaneous furniture.
Doug Sears, general manger of the Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort & Spa at Po‘ipu, also made a contribution to Waimea High School.
Waimea High School Vice Principal Pat Pereira and Richard Banasihan, campus security guard, accepted the donations.
Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort & Spa employee Kalani Kaohi of the resort’s public areas department was on hand to help load the equipment.
Kaohi is a 1980 graduate of Waimea High School.
Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort & Spa employees are active in the community throughout the year, with various activities involving employees and their families.
The Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort & Spa has 602 guest rooms, six restaurants and six lounges, a water playground with waterfalls and a 150-foot water slide, a five-acre saltwater lagoon, tennis, ANARA Spa, and golf at the adjacent Poipu Bay Resort.
