Overshadowed last season by senior teammates Futi Tavana and Jeremy Manuel, Kaua’i guard Josh Bradbury emerged from the dark in his final year to capture the KIF Boys Basketball Player of the Year honor.
Bradbury, the league’s leading scorer, led a young Red Raider squad through tough times.
His scoring prowess will go down in the history books, as one of the best ever.
Bradbury also stepped up his game this season and made a few big, clutch shots during the second half of the year.
This year’s all-star squad is guard-rich and experienced, with no under-classmen on the team.
Kapa’a, who won more games this season than the three previous seasons combined, fielded the most athletes on the prominent squad, with three.
Point guard Greg Ragsac was relentless with his spectacular ballhandling abilities and great floor leadership.
Ragsac’s teammate Nate Beralas zeroed in on the rim with the best of them this season.
Beralas’ touch resembled Warriors in the past like Joe Moises, Greg Gonsalves, Nick Hill, and Milo Haneberg.
Down on the block, Mike Lindsey held court every night, with opponents unable to matchup with the nimble, but strong space eater.
Waimea, the 2005-06 KIF champions, were awarded with two spots on the all-star squad, in Chad Barba and Brendan McDaniels.
The dynamic duo led the Menehune all the way to the top. McDaniels’ game was polished and consistent, while Barba utilized his great instincts to contribute to the Menehune attack throughout the season.
Kapa’a first-year head coach Phillip Baclayon earned well-deserved KIF Coach of the Year honors, for his ability to turn around the storied Warrior basketball program.
The KIF Boys Basketball All-Stars were chosen by the coaches.
