The 5th Annual Irons Brothers Pine Trees Classic begins at 8 a.m. today in Hanalei.
Kaua’i professional surfers Andy and Bruce Irons will be on hand to host their annual community event.
The brothers head off to Australia to begin their 2006 ASP Tour season starting Feb. 28.
Other Kaua’i sporting events happening today include the KIF canoe paddling championships, beginning at 10 a.m. at Wailua River.
KIF tennis gets underway with matches in Hanalei and Po’ipu. Kaua’i battles Kula at the Hanalei Bay Resort Courts and Island faces off against Waimea at the Kiahuna Tennis Courts. Both contests start at 12 noon.
KIF preseason girls basketball continues today in Waimea and Kapa’a. The Warriors begin play at 5:30 p.m. (JV) against Kalani. The varsity contest begins 20 minutes after the JV game.
In the meantime, Waimea and Kalani battles at 10 a.m., with the JV game. The varsity contest follows 20 minutes after the JV game. Then at 7 p.m., the Menehune will tangle with Kailua.
