Leaders at Kaua‘i Community College invite all interested to come to the Puhi campus Sunday for high-technology demonstrations, a book sale, and the annual American Culinary Federation Breakfast, from 7 a.m.
The event is centered around the 20th Annual ACF breakfast, according to a press release.
This annual breakfast features hotel culinary talents and the KCC culinary-arts students, and attracts over 2,000 people each year who come and enjoy the food and entertainment under the tent.
Members of the Rotary Club of Kapaa will present their scholarship awards to KCC’s top culinary students.
Tickets for this event are $12 in advance, $14 at the door, and $5 for children. Children under 5 are free.
There will be omelet stations, carving stations, and entertainment by EZ Livin’.
At the same time, Team Tech Kaua‘i’s Technology Career Fair at the KCC Technology Center will take place, with representatives of high-tech firms displaying their exhibits and hands-on demonstrations, and offering information on career opportunities for students interested in high-tech careers.
A scholarship drawing sponsored by leaders of these firms will be a highlight of the event, awarding cash scholarships to a few lucky students.
There will be student experiments and mini-lectures going on in the multi-media lab, featuring Jeff Walden, U.S. Navy meteorology engineer, from Corona, Calif.
Chiefess Kamakahelei Middle School students are new participants this year, with a robotics demonstrations.
The KCC Used Book Sale is at the back of the Performing Arts Center. Bestsellers at the book sale include fiction, children’s, cookbooks, Hawaiiana and the Pacific; music CDs and tapes.
Donations are still being accepted for the book sale. Funds raised will go towards purchasing new books for the library.
In the automotive area, new cars will be on display, including hybrid cars from Kaua‘i auto dealers.
A ceramic arts exhibit and sale and a Hawaiian studies exhibit and poi sale will take place, with members of the KCC Nursing Club offering free blood-pressure testing.
