Most know them from the saltwater, but when it came to the chlorine variety, Kapa‘a’s Jackie and Camille Brady showed why they are true athletes.
In their first year at KIF swimming, the Brady sisters earned some medals, which made their father proud.
“I was extremely happy for them. They deserved it. They worked so hard and I’m very proud of them,” John Brady said.
Jackie, the elder of the two, took two medals at the KIF championship meet, one in the free and one in a relay race.
In the meantime, the younger of the two, Camille, also took home a medal in a relay event.
“I cheer for all of the schools. It was a great meet and we’ve got great swimmers on the island,” John Brady said.
The Brady sisters were out of the pool this past weekend and back in the ocean — their first love.
Both Camille and Jackie were competing at a Volcom-sponsored contest on the North Shore Saturday, but John mentioned that the conditions weren’t as good as they wanted it to be.
John, who goes to all of their athletic events, including their Jr. Lifeguard contests, said that he was excited to take his girls to this past year’s PGA Grand Slam of Golf in Po‘ipu.
“I picked them up from school and headed straight to the event,” John said.
The girls even got a nod of acceptance from golf’s greatest player.
“Tiger (Woods) gave a big smile to Camille and Jackie. I think he was excited to see them,” John said.
At any rate, the Brady sisters should continue to shine at whatever they choose to do, because John is right by their side.
