Orlando Vigil is the new senior pastor at Calvary Chapel South Shore in Kalaheo.
Vigil grew up in New Mexico, the eldest of nine children; having three wonderful children of his own: Thomas (31, married living in Rhode Island), Andrew (28, engaged living in New Mexico) and Felicia (26, married living in Florida). All have a very close relationship with their dad.
At the encouragement of his father, Vigil went to college and received a two-year degree. He then went to work for a television station. He later returned to college to receive his degree in engineering, and eventually earned a master’s degree.
He started attending Calvary Chapel of Albuquerque, and after several years of training, he began to teach. He went on several mission trips to Mexico and Nicaragua, taught the Word at the Boys’ Detention Home and Men’s Prison, answered the phone during Billy Graham telecasts, and attended Promise Keepers.
Two years ago Vigil was promoted as the site manager for Sandia National Laboratories’ Kaua’i Test Facility at the Pacific Missile Range Facility. The past year he has participated in the Worship and Praise Band and taught the Bible at Calvary Chapel South Shore. On Sunday, April 9 at the Calvary Chapel Kaua’i in Kapa‘a, Vigil was ordained as the Senior Pastor for Calvary Chapel South Shore.
His first “official” service will be tonight’s Good Friday service at 6 p.m. at the church located in Kalaheo. Their Easter service will be at 9 a.m.
Weekly service times at Calvary Chapel South Shore are Sunday mornings at 9 a.m. and Wednesday evenings at 7:30 p.m.
