In celebration of National Library Week and the seventh anniversary of Kaua‘i’s newest library, Princeville Public Library leaders have scheduled a performance by Hula Halau O’ Hanalei on Saturday at 11 a.m., Hawai‘i State Public Library System leaders said in a press release.
The event is free and open to the public.
Members of Hula Halau O’ Hanalei, a popular halau on the North Shore led by kumu hula Naomi Yokotake, are scheduled to perform several numbers with about 20 to 25 dancers ranging in age from keiki to young ladies.
In addition, members of the library staff and the Friends of the North Shore Library at Princeville will recognize and honor their volunteers, in observance of Volunteer Recognition Week next week.
Following this program, light refreshments will be served.
The events are sponsored by the Friends of the Library of Hawaii and the Friends of the North Shore Library at Princeville.
The one-hour program is suitable for all ages.
Following intense public lobbying, Princeville Public Library, opened on April 14, 1999, and is located at 4343 Emmalani Drive.
Jennifer Relacion is the librarian, and Barbara Smith is the president of the Friends of the North Shore Library.
“We have an awesome group of volunteers who have done a great many things to enhance the operation and offerings of this incredible library, making it one of the best in the state,” said Dotty Nakea, a member of the Friends of the North Shore Library.
