Eleanor Weber Frauenheim
Eleanor Weber Douglas Frauenheim, of Kailua, died on April 30, 2006, at home at the age of 87.
Born Dec. 18, 1918, in Mana, she was the youngest (and last remaining) of six children (Henry, Dorothy Foster, Bill, Fred and Marie Gates) of Fritz and Marie Weber.
She was employed at Kauai Library and Kauai Inn prior to moving to O‘ahu with her daughters Adel Kunisawa (R. Kay) of Maui and Suzie Oshiro (Garrett) of Kailua. On O‘ahu, she worked for 28 years at Hawaiian Telephone from1950 and retired as a business office supervisor in 1978. She was also active in The Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary for 25 years.
She is also survived by seven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, 19 nieces and nephews and dozens of grand and great-grand nieces and nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Capt. Gilbert J. Frauenheim USN (Ret) who died in 1995. Their ashes will be scattered together on at Polihale State Parkon June 12, at 9 a.m.
There will be a gathering for lunch in Po‘ipu following the service. Friends are asked to RSVP to Suzie in Kailua at 808-262-6226.

Liloa Nakamatsu
Liloa Ira Nakamatsu died May 7, 2006 at the Queen’s Medical Center, at the age of 28.
Born and raised in Kapa’a, he was a graduate of Kamehameha School’s Class of 1996.
Liloa was an outgoing young man full of life and aloha and he will be missed by all those that he touched.
He is survived by his parents, Claron and Terri and his brother Kahai; paternal grandparents, Yasu and Sue Nakamatsu and maternal grandparents, Clarence and Lydia Ludin.
A celebration of life will be held at Breath of Life Christian Ministries in Lihu’e on Saturday, May 20. Visitation will be from 9:30 -11 a.m. and service at 11 a.m. Casual attire is suggested. A memorial tribute will also be held on Friday, June 2, at the Bernice Pauahi Bishop Memorial Chapel at Kamehameha Schools on O‘ahu. Visitation 1:30-2:30, service 2:30-3:30. Casual attire is suggested.
Mary H. Bird
Mary H. (Hankins) Bird, of Kingstown Road, died April 26, 2006, at Scallop Shell Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Peace Dale, Rhode Island. She was the wife of the late Col. Sidney A. Bird, Jr. of Baton Rouge, LA.
Born in Pensacola, Fla., she was the daughter of the late Dr. Jeremiah Noble and Ethel M. (White) Hankins. She graduated from the University of Alabama with a Bachelor of Arts degree and later did graduate work in German. A military wife, Mrs. Bird traveled extensively with her husband on his many assignments including Japan and Germany before retiring on Kaua‘i in 1968. A realtor for Barefoot Realty, she enjoyed literature and the study of grammar and was an avid reader. She loved beachcombing, cooking, anything chocolate, and showing people around Kaua‘i.
She is survived by daughter, Dr. Meredith S. Bird of Saunderstown, RI and Leslie B. Perkins of South Kingstown, RI; nieces Mary Ann Kinser of Orlando, Fla., Beth Hankins of Santa Monica, Calif. and a nephew, Jeremiah N. Hankins of Manhattan Beach, Calif.
Friends are welcome to attend a Hawaiian-themed memorial celebration of her life to be held on Saturday, May 20, at Hooffinfeathers Carriage Inn, 1065 Tower Hill Road, North Kingstown from 5 to 8 p.m. Burial will be with her husband at Puncbowl Military Cemetery on O‘ahu.
