Agor Architecture was established on the island of Kaua‘i 20 years ago. A Waimea High School graduate, Ron Agor was born and raised in Kekaha. Growing up in a humble family during the sugar plantation days helped Ron define his principles of providing for the entire community as his own ‘ohana, the release states. He became an architect in 1986.
Recent projects include the Waimea Plantation Cottages restoration and the upcoming Y.M.C.A. Community Center in Lihu‘e.
Agor has always felt giving back to the community is more important than personal financial gain, the release states. As such, he has played an influential role in shaping Kaua‘i’s development through active participation in community programs and charity work.
In the spirit of continued adherance to the Agor’s philosophy of community involvement and leadership, ADG announced several new partners: Caven K. Raco, president; Chad Schlauch, vice president; and Jon Lucas, vice president.

Wilcox Trust gift means new Meals on Wheels van
• The G. N. Wilcox Trust recently awarded Kauai Economic Opportunity a grant of $20,000 for the purchase of a van for the Meals on Wheels program, a press release states.
KEO’s Meals On Wheels program targets both the transitional elderly and the vulnerable elderly, preparing and delivering over 325 meals throughout Kaua‘i.
Many senior citizens either do not have children on Kaua‘i or their children are unable to prepare their meals, so Meals on Wheels makes it easier for the elderly to remain at home, the release states.
Loan and grant classes at KCC
• A lack of loans and grants is one of the major issues hamstringing Kaua‘i businesses and nonprofit agencies, says Glenn Hontz, a business instructor at Kaua‘i Community College.
Hontz is also the chairperson of the Kauai Food Industry Forum, a community-based planning and action organization.
The cumulative result, he says, is that many businesses fail to seek the financing necessary to become more profitable. In addition, many social service agencies aren’t getting additional funding to expand their services to clients.
The program, titled “Creative Financing for Your Organization: Grants, Loans and Fund Raising,” is going on now and runs until June 22 on each Tuesday and Thursday afternoon from 4 to 6 p.m. For information contact Glenn Hontz at 246-4859.
