The name and cause of death of the woman who was found in a burning car Monday was released yesterday.
County officials said 52-year-old Elizabeth Rose Davis died of smoke inhalation.
An autopsy was done Tuesday to determine the cause of death.
An ‘Ele‘ele resident who wishes to remain anonymous says the woman was living out of the car with another person.
“I saw her in Hanapepe maybe a week ago,” the source said Wednesday.
The person said the two people had been living out of the car for at least six months. It was parked along a fence that borders a housing project for disabled and elderly residents on Waialo Road in the Port Allen area.
While the car was parked along the fence, the source said, they were reported to the police for sleeping inside their vehicle and for creating disturbances.
The pair moved around to avoid detection, the person said.
Firefighters were called to Ko Road a few minutes after 11 a.m. Monday to put out the fire. They found Davis’ body on the left side of the rear seat.
