HONOLULU — The Hawaii Visitors and Convention Bureau is asking for more “My Hawaii” photo entries from Kaua‘i. As of May 31, Kauaians submitted only 765 photos, or 16 percent of total submissions. The deadline is June 30, and the grand prize is a free round trip to anywhere Hawaiian Airlines flies.
Photos are being sought — especially from the Neighbor Islands — of local culture from an “only in Hawai‘i” perspective, reflecting the islands’ way of life in the following subject areas: Fine Art Photos, Life at the Beach, Cuisine, Culture, Family Fun, Golf, Outdoor Activities, Romance, Shopping and Spa Activities.
Organizers also mentioned some specifics, including photos showing island life in smaller neighborhoods, and they mentioned Koloa as an example.
They are also looking for residents participating in sports or performing arts, such as dancing hula, ‘ukulele, paddling and hiking, to name a few. Finally, they want pictures of “A night on the town — Hawaiian style.”
HVCB will create an online ohana photo album so potential visitors can scan through the photos when planning their next trip to Hawai‘i.

First Place: Free round-trip tickets for two to any mainland U.S. city served by Hawaiian — Las Vegas, Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Diego, Sacramento, San Jose, Seattle, Portland and Phoenix.
Second Place: Free round-trip tickets for two between any interisland city served by Hawaiian — Lihu‘e, Honolulu, Kahului, Kona and Hilo.
Third Place: Free one-year membership in Hawaiian’s Premier Club program.
Entrants must be at least 18 years old and residents of Hawai‘i.
Only digital photos at least 300 dpi resolution but no larger than 3 megabytes will be accepted.
