Mark Jeffers and Russell the Rooster were having a long weekend, as were some of the Waimea High School parents; Mark and Russell stopping off at the Alzheimer’s Memory Walk before hitting the Coconut Festival Saturday.
Charline Wilson (she said there’re only two who spell the name this way) of the Regency at Puakea was also at the walk before heading down to the cerebral palsy rubber duckie race.
If you missed Laurie Chow, Brad Gipolan and the Hilo Hattie’s staff, you still get another chance at rubber duckies since the Kaua‘i Marriott will be hosting theirs on Tuesday for the Children’s Miracle Network.
Dickie Chang and Bruce Smalling were at the Nawiliwili Harbor (you should have seen all those Nawiliwili Yacht Club people watch the race instead of being racers), and Sharon Gibson traded in her starter’s flag for tickets to the beer and wine garden as well as grilled hot dogs and burgers. Marty Ellis said NYC was hosting the food and drinks for this event. Even Sue Kanoho took time out to see how her duckie investment was doing in the rising tide.
But the big draw was watching coaches Darrell Borrero, Kelii Morgado and all those Kaua‘i High School football players get involved in helping the Hilo Hattie’s crew. That is definitely community service, and coach Kelii said it was an opportunity for him to check out that portion of the harbor.
The best way to end such a long day is running into Ron Badua at the volleyball games where he was trying to get photos of students in his class.
