Paul Asuncion, formerly of Po‘ipu, and Sarah Sato, a Kaua‘i High School graduate, got a chance to come home as they represented Heald College and Hawai‘i Pacific University, respectively, at the annual College Fair Monday.
Nellie Okamoto is one of the committee members along with Donna Nakahara who make the whole thing work each year … great job!
Billy Gibson, Martina Hilldorfer and the Kaua‘i Community College culinary students took in the fair before having to prep for the Tuesday meals. For the students, it was a chance to help spread the word about KCC as well as gain personal insight into the realm of higher education.
This was a good day for Hamura Saimin in more ways than one … Steve Kaui of Garden Isle Disposal had the same idea and now, Garden Isle Disposal will donate the service of one of its trash containers so people will have a place to put their opala at the Lights on Rice parade. Mamo Cummings Graham of Princeville is also coordinating a group of volunteers to help the Boy Scouts … Gilbert Cabot of Troop 83 said they’re coming to help, too. Isn’t it amazing how every person’s little bit results in big accomplishments?
Gilbert, John Iwamoto and Alan Yamamoto were helping at the Veterans Day service and said they were going to treat the boys to a day at the beach afterwards.
Back at Hamura, Lanaly Cabalo was talking about hockey and there were the Mayer girls — Sierra and Cascade — enjoying saimin with Mom.
