Kaipo Asing’s desperate smear
In response to Kaua‘i County Council chair Kaipo Asing’s allegations about sign violations, I, Ron Agor, running for House District 15, want the voting public to know that the political banner that was put up on the YMCA construction site was done without my consultation. In fact, an over-enthusiastic contractor made a banner, paid for it himself and put it up on his own. I heard about it and immediately asked the contractor to take it down. The banner was up for approximately four hours. Asing knew that the banner had been taken down and still pushed for an investigation in an attempt to tarnish my campaign.
One of the reasons I did not want to put up yard signs was to have control of sign placements so no violations would occur. My opponent’s supporters have put yard signs in county and state rights of ways all over the place and I did not want that to happen in my campaign.

In response, after the election, I will be asking the county attorney and the attorney general to investigate a major grading and construction violation conducted by Asing on his Niumalu property a few years ago. I discovered that Asing was cited for the violation and used his absolute power to cover it up from the public. At the same time Asing and the council crucified other property owners in public hearings for conducting the same types of violations. This is a scandal beyond imagination, conducted by our own council chairperson. Should the investigation concur with this allegation, I will lead the people of Kaua‘i to ask Asing to resign as a council person.

I would like to remind the cult of Bush, that this is not Denmark and George is not Allah or Jehovah or the Great God Pan. Ed Stein’s cartoon (Forum, Nov. 4) should have shown the idiot on his hands and knees begging our gallant troops for forgiveness. He is turning my beloved country into a “lumbering, bellicose, dim-witted giant.”
Stupidity combined with power is unhealthy for the entire world.
If George’s intent is to kill or convert every Muslim in the world his devotees had better make sure they have plenty of money and grandchildren to sacrifice to the cause.
Please understand that many of us who read and write to The Garden Island are tired of constantly having to wade through William Rusher and Diana West’s columns three times a week.They are two of George’s most tedious, predictable, and boring addicts.
Because the writer of yesterday’s letter threw her paper away, I bought two. The editors of The Garden Island do the best they can.

Bless the troops
To the Courageous Men and Women of the 3d Armored Cavalry Regiment, who have changed the city of Tall’ Afar from a ghost town, in which terrorists spread death and destruction, to a secure city flourishing with life. To the lion-hearts who liberated our city from the grasp of terrorists who were beheading men, women and children in the streets for many months. To those who spread smiles on the faces of our children, and gave us restored hope, through their personal sacrifice and brave fighting, and gave new life to the city after hopelessness darkened our days, and stole our confidence in our ability to reestablish our city.
Our city was the main base of operations for Abu Mousab Al Zarqawi. The city was completely held hostage in the hands of his henchmen. Our schools, governmental services, businesses and offices were closed. Our streets were silent, and no one dared to walk them. Our people were barricaded in their homes out of fear; death awaited them around every corner. Terrorists occupied and controlled the only hospital in the city. Their savagery reached such a level that they stuffed the corpses of children with explosives and tossed them into the streets in order to kill grieving parents attempting to retrieve the bodies of their young. This was the situation of our city until God prepared and delivered unto them the courageous soldiers of the 3d Armored Cavalry Regiment, who liberated this city, ridding it of Zarqawi’s followers after harsh fighting, killing many terrorists, and forcing the remaining butchers to flee the city like rats to the surrounding areas, where the bravery of other 3d ACR soldiers in Sinjar, Rabiah, Zumar and Avgani finally destroyed them.
I have met many soldiers of the 3d Armored Cavalry Regiment; they are not only courageous men and women, but avenging angels sent by The God Himself to fight the evil of terrorism.
The leaders of this Regiment; COL McMaster, COL Armstrong, LTC Hickey, LTC Gibson, and LTC Reilly embody courage, strength, vision and wisdom. Officers and soldiers alike bristle with the confidence and character of knights in a bygone era. The mission they have accomplished, by means of a unique military operation, stands among the finest military feats to date in Operation Iraqi Freedom, and truly deserves to be studied in military science. This military operation was clean, with little collateral damage, despite the ferocity of the enemy. With the skill and precision of surgeons they dealt with the terrorist cancers in the city without causing unnecessary damage.
God bless this brave Regiment; God bless the families who dedicated these brave men and women. From the bottom of our hearts we thank the families. They have given us something we will never forget. To the families of those who have given their holy blood for our land, we all bow to you in reverence and to the souls of your loved ones. Their sacrifice was not in vain. They are not dead, but alive, and their souls hovering around us every second of every minute. They will never be forgotten for giving their precious lives. They have sacrificed that which is most valuable. We see them in the smile of every child, and in every flower growing in this land. Let America, their families, and the world be proud of their sacrifice for humanity and life.
Finally, no matter how much I write or speak about this brave Regiment, I haven’t the words to describe the courage of its officers and soldiers. I pray to God to grant happiness and health to these legendary heroes and their brave families.

Boondoggle remembered
“Remember, remember the 4th of November, Superferry boondoggle, and plot. I see no reason why the Superferry boondoggle should ever be forgot.”
On Saturday, Nov. 4, hundreds of people, with over 250 cars, gathered in Nawiliwili to participate in a powerful demonstration expressing support of an environmental impact study for the Superferry. All I can say is, get ready Kaua’i, Hawai‘i, and Maui, because if nothing is done, our islands will be deluged with traffic lines stretching several blocks, in either direction … every day. This line of cars will have had minimal to no inspection, and any number people of questionable character will have a generous pass to roam our islands, before scurrying back to O‘ahu.
There is a reason that Gov. Linda Lingle slammed the door on over 6,000 people (petition) from Kaua‘i who were attempting to voice their concerns around the questionable omission of an EIS for a project which will impact our islands considerably more than cruise ships and transport freighters. Why is she unwilling to enter into a dialogue? Why this deafening silence from the governor’s office? Why this hidden government?
The demonstration in Kaua’i reflected an expanding groundswell of concerned citizens all over Hawai‘i. People are waking up to a travesty that has been foisted upon us by an ill-timed, inconsiderate and ill-planned project which will devastate our way of life as we know it. Learn the facts. Your ‘civic dirty’
As you go to the polls on Tuesday to do your “civic dirty,” just remember that we do not have to put up with political nonsense anymore. I’m not talking about “voting out all the incumbents,” which is not going to solve anything. I’m talking about real change — a demand that our elected officials stop with the partisan bickering, the down-and-dirty campaigning, the self-serving dance with career lobbyists, the corruption, and the extreme loss of touch with the problems facing Americans within our own borders.
We don’t have to keep sullying ourselves by participating in a farce (yes, I am sorry, but it is a farce). Let’s demand that the “high theater” stop now, and that these people get about their work in a statesman-like manner.
