HONOLULU — Hawai‘i’s chocolate covered macadamia candy manufacturer Hawaiian Host, Inc. is introducing Hawaiian Host Pure Aloha Organics, the world’s first certified organic Hawaiian macadamias and chocolate covered macadamias produced for major commercial sales.
“After an extensive three-month certification process, we have an organic line that meets our Hawaiian Host standards of quality and is just as satisfying and delicious as our original, secret recipe,” Hawaiian Host president Keith Sakamoto said in a release.
Hawaiian Host Pure Aloha Organics macadamias are grown using farming techniques that are free of chemicals, certified organic by the Hawaii Organic Farmers Association.
“Certified organic” means that the product has been inspected to insure that the organic standards set forth by the Federal Organic Rule have been met. HOFA is the only Hawai‘i-based certification agency accredited by the USDA’s National Organic Program. As such, all Hawaiian Host Pure Aloha Organics products clearly show the USDA organic seal of approval.
“One of Hawai‘i’s finest chocolate macadamia producers just got even better,” HOFA certification coordinator Kelly Lange said in the release.
Hawaiian Host Pure Aloha Organics is available in a 4.5-ounce lightly sea-salted macadamia can, which costs suggested manufacturer’s retail price of $4.49.
The organic line is also available in a 3.1-ounce Milk Chocolate Indulgent Stand Up Box and a 3.1-ounce Dark Chocolate Indulgent Stand Up Box, which costs a suggested manufacturer’s retail price of $4.49. The line is currently available at Don Quijote stores.
