The woman accused of stabbing another woman outside of the Tokyo Lobby restaurant was arraigned in court yesterday.
O‘ahu resident Yu Mei Liu, 41, is charged with second-degree attempted murder for allegedly stabbing a 33-year-old woman on Jan. 10 at the Harbor Mall.
Officials are not issuing comments on whether there is a relationship between the two women.
Police and emergency responders arrived on-scene around 7:30 p.m. that night after hearing claims there was an assault in progress.
Liu was then arrested and released on $100,000 bail.
Liu, a slight woman, had a Mandarin interpreter alongside her attorney in Fifth District Court Judge Trudy Senda’s courtroom.
Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Jennifer Winn asked Senda for a preliminary hearing within two weeks.
In Hawai‘i, the maximum punishment for second-degree attempted murder is life in prison with the possibility of parole.
Liu will is scheduled to appear at 1 p.m. March 8 in district court.
