Kirsten was everywhere on the arena during the Bantam game featuring Green versus the Whoppers, and despite finishing with three goals and a pair of assists, and key defensive take-aways, the Whoppers edged out Green 7-5 in the third of three games played Sunday at the Kapa‘a rink.
Trevor McCracken, the Whopper scoring edge, finished with a pair of goals and three assists in the win, repeating his scoring flurry earlier in the day when he led the KSA Lihu‘e Cougars to a 7-0 win over the Lihu‘e Tornadoes with a hat trick.
But that was not all for the McCracken ‘ohana who had mom Colleen filling in as coach for the Sharks, substituting for its head coach who was involved with men’s soccer elsewhere on the island.
Chris Villabrille joined Trevor with a pair of goals and Zack Rodriguez, Kala Yee and Corey Nemeth each added a goal for the win.
Following Kirsten, Green got a goal and an assist from Jean-Luc Tremblay and Sierra Mayer with Christian Perdue helping with an assist.
Greg Balmores was 33-for-40 on saves as goalie for the Green while Grant Basquez was 35-of-42 in saves for the Whoppers.
In earlier games, Shannon Sitzler had the long score for the Wave Riders in its 1-0 edge over the Fireballs in what scorekeeper Penni Taketa described as a very close game.
Marissa Aceret, goalkeeping for the Wave Riders was a perfect 12-of-12 in saves while Tomas Sanchez, keeping for the Fireballs, was 12-of-13 in a balanced showing.
Gavin Bryan finished with three goals to lead the Dragons who ended on a 5-5 tie with the Sharks in the Squirts class contest.
Robin Bihm finished with two goals and an assist, and if his rush into the net counted, might’ve had three goals in the effort.
Aceret led the Sharks’ effort, finishing with a pair of goals and an assist followed by Chanel Tremblay working through traffic to finish with two goals. A goal from Natalie Lewis and an assist from Edward Punua rounded out the Sharks’ comeback effort.
Sanchez, keeping for the Dragons, ended 16-of-21 in saves while Makani Crowder was 8-of-13 in saves for the Sharks.
Friday night games were rained out.
