Kenny Ishii (he was checking out the shoes at Fantastic Footwear) has a new item on the breakfast menu at the Ono Family Restaurant in Kapa‘a — pork chops and eggs! Hm-m-m a touch of the John Wayne Airport from Newport Beach. Guess it’s time to schedule a breakfast meeting to check it out.
Lei Nakayama has a new way to visit the dentist — bring a pie so it doesn’t hurt so much … she and Dean were still talking about the Miss Garden Isle/Miss Kaua‘i pageant last weekend … judge Peggy Miller lives close to where Sheila Nakayama goes to school at Pacific Lutheran University.
David Allio was having his car’s oil changed and that was the perfect opportunity for coffee at McDonald’s (after that morning downpour). Steve Lewis (check out the motorcycle tracks on the back of the Ford) wasn’t there so is he doing the NASCAR thing in Las Vegas this weekend? They also have the annual PMA convention there so all those Kaua‘i photogs heading that way have a double-whammy … lessee now, Ron Kosen was up there one year, and so was Joe Olivas.
John Ochoco and some of his East Kaua‘i Lions were doing the coffee thingie, too. If you need some good grinds, Sunday is the pancake breakfast at Wilcox School … check out the Roy Nishida pineapples and the miso soup inspired by Masa Arita. And make sure you say “hi” to Steve Fujii. If you need something to do Saturday, check out the Children’s Day festivities at Kukui Grove starting at 11 a.m. Happy Girls Day, Kaua‘i!
