The Kapa‘a High School girls soccer team got to go before the boys.
Kaua‘i County Council members recognized both the girls and the boys soccer teams for winning the Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation championships this year and for their participation in the state championships on O‘ahu.
Both teams, all seemingly in good moods, shared their favorite moments of the season with the council members.
The girls team and a handful of the boys team were in attendance.
Kapa‘a boys head coach Kevin Cram commented on his second year coaching the varsity team.
“It was a pleasure working with the boys,” he said. “The majority of the team will be returning next year so we’re looking forward to starting up practices again.”
Cram said, as far as he knows, he will return for the next season.
The girls finished 9-4, 2-1 in the tournament, to come up with a fifth place finish at states.
The boys finished 7-1-2, 1-1-1 and drew the seventh place match against Kealakehe High School of the Big Island.
The girls also received eight of the 12 KIF all-star positions, Player of the Year (Ka‘ala Leong) and Coach of the Year (Crissi Marti.)
