The Kapa‘a Athletics and the Kilauea Giants met in the Minors championship game this past Wednesday at the Kawaihaa Little League field in Kapa‘a.
At the end of the first inning, the A’s found themselves ahead 3-0. The Giants would rally later to tie. The A’s came back and scored two runs to take the lead 5-3.
At the top of the sixth with two outs, the Giants were able to bring in three runs to take the lead 6-5. By the bottom of the sixth, the first batter up for the A’s grounded out to second for one out. The next batter walked and became the potential tying run.
The third batter struck out, but the runner still advanced to second.
The fourth batter came up and during the set, the runner stole third base. With the runner in scoring position, the batter popped a line drive to center field, which was caught to end the game. The Giants won 6-5.
