KAPA‘A — Kawai Peahu scored three goals, Matt Heller netted two and added two assists and Brandon Taylor finished with two goals to give the Devils an 8-4 edge over the Whoppers Friday night.
Despite the 4-point edge, the contest was pretty even with the Devils getting just five more shot-on-goal opportunities than the Whoppers for the Bantam title in the YMCA Kaua‘i Inline Hockey Association league.
Goalie Grant Basquez for the Whoppers was 38-for-46 while Greg Balmores, tending for the Devils, finished 37-for-41.
On the field, the Devils’ Cydney Sitzler rounded out the victory with a goal and Mathias Davis finished with an assist for the redshirts.
Lyle Nemeth led the Whoppers’ effort with two goals followed by Marcus Punua and Zack Rodrigues each scoring one goal. Trevor McCracken added an assist.
