Taking a 5-4 edge over Lihu‘e on opening day, April 22, Hanapepe was a 10-0 winner over Kalawai April 26 and added its third win Thursday afternoon with an 8-4 edge over Kekaha.
Opening its season on a 10-5 win over Kapa‘a on April 22, the Kekaha Pony baseball team let its victory string slip as it was edged by Waimea 9-6 on April 26.
The Kekaha team picked themselves up to edge Koloa 9-6 on April 29, but seemed to have a case of Thursday blues as it dropped to Hanapepe 8-4 on May 2.
On the other side, Lihu‘e, suffering a 5-4 heartbreaker to Hanapepe on opening day, roared back for a 6-1 edge over Kapa‘a on April 22, an 11-4 win over Kalawai on April 29 before earning a “bye” on
May 2.
Kalawai is hungry, suffering a string of losses starting with its 6-2 defeat at the hands of Koloa on April 22, a 10-0 shutout from Hanapepe on April 26 and a 7-4 defeat from Waimea on Wednesday.
Kapa‘a, starting strong on April 22, fell in the late innings to Kekaha bats before being victimized by Lihu‘e 6-1 on April 26.
Waimea handed Kapa‘a an 11-6 loss April 29 and no results were available from their game against Koloa Wednesday.
Games this Sunday will take place in the Kapa‘a and Kekaha fields with a double-header in Kapa‘a, starting at 10 a.m.
In that contest, Waimea will take on Lihu‘e followed by Kapa‘a hosting Kalawai at 12:45 p.m.
The Kekaha field contest features Koloa taking on Hanapepe in a single contest starting at 10 a.m.
Next Thursday, games will take place at Hanapepe, Kekaha and Koloa fields starting at 4:15 p.m.
Hanapepe hosts Waimea at Hanapepe, Kekaha hosts Kalawai at Kekaha and Koloa hosts Lihu‘e.
There is no admission to watch the competition between some of Kaua‘i’s most exciting baseball players.
