Bev Brody said she was supposed to be the good luck charm when she went to visit the Canadian Crew at the United Softball Tournament. The team was leading by 4 points when she showed up with her Canadian flag, and then it all fell apart. Oh well, she was out at the Visitor Industry Charity Walk Saturday along with hundreds of walkers.
Chef Mark Sassone of the Hilton Kaua‘i Beach Resort said Toto Santos was all sore since her team lost to her brother’s team, and she had to work for the awards banquet. No wonder she wasn’t at the walk … but Danny Aki was there to help, and Billy Gibson is keeping his vote secret.
How did Dickie Chang know that red was the color of the day? But Ron Wiley was in blue so I guess it was OK … TGI walkers (even CJ DeSilva got a breakfast ticket) were in white so it was all patriotic.
Darlene Soriano came out of her Budget office for this annual event that she’s been walking in since her beauty queen was in high school. So has Cathy Agoot, and Beth Tokioka was able to represent the mayor and still make it to the LBL Bronco championships after the walk.
KPD officer of the month Ron Venneman was on duty at the Umi Street intersection along with Kapena Kinimaka and the Kaua‘i Marriott security crew. Just down the street DQ Jackson had his Malama Pono crew out raising HIV awareness with the huge crowd.
