From jewelers to bakeries to banks to the military, the Kaua‘i Job Fair tomorrow will run the gamut of employment opportunities on-island.
More than 60 businesses from all walks of life are scheduled to attend, representing the visitor, retail, agricultural, educational, military, nonprofit, health and technical fields.
According to Connie Clausen, president of the Job Service Employer Committee, the sixth annual fair is the largest of its kind and is not just for residents without work.
Due to low unemployment on Kaua‘i, the event also reaches out to anyone contemplating a second job or a career change, including college students, high school graduates and retirees.
“The opportunity is there for anybody who has a job now and may not be looking … to casually get to know employers,” she said.
The networking aspect is equally important to participating businesses, Clausen added.
“(Employers) are so eager to find qualified people, they will hire someone just so they don’t lose them,” she said.
Past fairs have boasted attendance of 250 to 400 job seekers.
The free event will take place at the Kukui Grove Shopping Center from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the center stage area.
Resume writing assistance will be offered as well as tips for applying online with HireNet, WorkWise’s Internet-based job list. Computers will be available for online applications.
The event is presented by Kaua‘i Job Service Employer Committee and sponsored by the Kaua‘i Workforce Investment Board.
