Richard “Dick” Rentz, born April 30, 1936, passed away suddenly June 21, 2007, on his beloved island of Kaua‘i.
He will be missed by his wife of 51 years and devoted partner, Jan.; two children Rick (Julie) Rentz and son Gray and Cherl (Bert) Trapanese and daughters Mandy and Carly; sister Jeanne Ploof and brother Donald Rentz.
Dick and Jan have made Kaua‘i their full-time home since Dick’s retirement from ReTurn, Inc. in the late ‘90’s. Before retirement Dick had a successful 30 year career with Red Owl Food Stores in Minneapolis followed by an opportunity to develop his own successful family business, ReTurn, Inc. Dick devoted many hours and much energy to a longstanding passion of community service through the Rotary Clubs of Minnetonka, Hopkins and Kapa‘a. Dick and his entire family were full Paul Harris Fellows of Rotary International and Dick, as a charter member, was a past president of the Hopkins/Minnetonka Rotary club.
Dick and Jan were enthusiastic travelers who had visited all seven continents and made many friends all over the world.
Services for Dick will be held at Lihue Lutheran Church Wednesday, June 27 at 10 a.m. with a celebration of Dick’s life following. Dick was a devoted husband, loving father, wonderful mentor and entrepreneur extreme n many times he was called on to “get things done”. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Lihue Lutheran Church or Kapaa Rotary Foundation.
