Maggi Celebrado won the 2007 Miss Kaua‘i Filipina Saturday night and was at hula practice for the Na Hula O Kaohikukapulani ho‘ike at 6 a.m. Sunday morning.
Mom Phyllis said she just stayed up all night and rolled everything into one big event as she passed out celebratory sandwiches before the Father’s Day hoike. Congratulations to all!
Hats off to the Nawiliwili Yacht Club on another successful Father’s Day fishing tournament, too! This year, the Koga family set up their tent outside the boat ramp and Cal Koga came up with a big barracuda after three misses … and where was Chick Cacabelos when his granddaughter Alexis snagged the toau?
If you saw a Kaua‘i Police Activities League shirt behind first base at the Angels’ game, that was George Freitas who stopped off at the K-PAL games on his way to catch a plane to watch that game. And with the Kamehameha Day parade staging in the parking lot, Uncle John Kaneholani got to see Yukie DeSilva at the football field before his Hanalei School ‘Ukulele Band got going in the parade.
Hats off to Lt. Mark Scribner and all those traffic officers for keeping everything moving right along!
