The 2007 Kaua‘i PONY all stars left for the Big Island today to participate in the 2007 Hawai‘i Region PONY State baseball tournament.
Hosted by the Boys & Girls Club of the Big Island, the Kaua‘i team is one of 10 teams that will vie for the state championship this week at the Walter Victor Stadium in Hilo.
Tournament play will start with a 10-team pool play format in two pools.
Teams competing include seven squads from O‘ahu, and one each from Maui, the Big Island and Kaua‘i.
Kaua‘i all stars include Camden Nakashima, Tanner Fernandez, Shea Shimabukuro, Vinda Carineo Jr., Taran Tani, Kaimana Perreira-Alquiza, Kahai Hosaka, Ioane Toyofuku, Kalama Resquer-Yorkman, Randall Jacinto, Gavin Jardin, Jordan Kitabayashi, Steven Werner, Dylan Ishihara and Chaysen Medina. Coaches include Guy Ishihara, Jon Nakashima and Isaac Castillo.
