Renaud will assume his “new” position on Aug. 1. He replaces Kylan Dela Cruz who recently transferred to the Department of Parks & Recreation as deputy director.
“I was pleasantly surprised when Ed asked to be considered to serve as my deputy,” said Fujimoto, according to the release. “In his current position as superintendent of our Roads Division, he has had a tremendous impact on the quantity and quality of projects undertaken by the division. I welcome his enthusiasm and willingness to take on more responsibilities.”
Furthermore, Fujimoto added, “Ed has already demonstrated that he can handle the responsibilities that come with the position since he served as deputy county engineer for over five years from November 1991 to March 1997.”
Expressing excitement about his “new” role in the Department of Public Works, Renaud said, according to the release, “I am honored to be part of this administration and look forward to facing the challenges that lie ahead.”
Prior to working for the county, Renaud served as the chief of field operations with the state Department of Land and Natural Resources, Division of Forestry and Wildlife, where he was in charge of all construction and maintenance projects.
For over 30 years, Renaud was employed in the private sector and was responsible for overseeing numerous construction projects including: the Princeville Resort; Royal Ko ‘Olina Condominium Resort on O‘ahu; shoulder widening and drainage system improvements for the state Department of Transportation n Kaua‘i branch; U.S. federal courthouse and office building on O‘ahu; Wailea Hotel & Resort on Maui; Wailua Wastewater Treatment Plant; and the Wilcox Hospital expansion.
Renaud received a Bachelor’s of Science degree in civil engineering and a Bachelor’s of Education from the University of Hawai‘i at Manoa. He also earned a Master’s of Science degree in construction engineering from the University of Hawai‘i, West O‘ahu College.
In addition, Renaud has taken classes in the construction industry including: business management; construction law; real estate property management; and marketing n development and finance.
Renaud is married to June Renaud, who is employed as an information and referral program specialist with the County Agency on Elderly Affairs.
