Does your child like to dance? Have you always wanted to take a dance class? Maybe you’d like to introduce your child to a new type of fun, or show your child how to move with poise and grace. Or, maybe you’ve wondered how to improve your balance or overall fitness. Royal Ballet Kaua‘i Academy’s 2007-2008 semester begins today.
All ages and abilities are welcome, and classes are offered in Kapa‘a, Lihu‘e and Princeville. Skills learned in ballet enhance performance in sports activities, in other styles of dance, and in social situations where grace, poise and good posture can give a child confidence.
Hip Hop classes encourage children to expand their dance skills with a fun workout, lively music, and well-paced activity. Learning basic hip hop moves develops flexibility and coordination.
RBKA’s dance program combines fitness and fun with extensive teaching experience and training. Ballet classes at RBKA are structured to increase confidence and build camaraderie. Teamwork and support are encouraged, and older students have the opportunity to assist younger students.
The annual Spring Show is a highlight for many children in the dance program. Performing on stage in front of family and friends is a valuable experience that is cherished by students and families for a lifetime.
This year, RBKA will begin rehearsing for the November 2007 Fall Recital and the 11th annual Spring Show. The annual Spring Show is a dance, music, and visual art presentation which brings together a cast of nearly 100 of RBKA’s dance students performing a unique blend of classical ballet, jazz, hip hop and modern dance.
RBKA has been performing and servicing the Kaua‘i community since 1998. These events are culturally enriching and musically diverse and are open to all the public: audiences. Proud parents, family and friends gather to watch children and young people perform excerpts of their classical ballet classes and stylized hip hop and jazz routines. Each year outshines the last as dedicated students develop their skills and enthusiastically perform. Some dancers have been studying since the founding of the academy in 1998. Older graduates of the training have gone on to study dance in colleges across the country.
