Jill Hedges Ramsey joined the Alzheimer’s Association on Kaua‘i as the educational and training coordinator. Ramsey will focus on ways to increase awareness and knowledge of the disease and its related dementia for individuals diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and their families.
Jill Hedges Ramsey joined the Alzheimer’s Association on Kaua‘i as the educational and training coordinator. Ramsey will focus on ways to increase awareness and knowledge of the disease and its related dementia for individuals diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and their families.
Ramsey grew up in Kekaha with her father, the late Reverend Jack Hedges who was pastor at the Kekaha and Kaumakani Methodist Church.
“I was so fortunate to have the opportunity to experience going to school and enjoying the community on Kaua‘i when I was a young girl. My teachers, the church members and my friends taught me so much about values, traditions and the importance of family,” a press release quotes Ramsey.
Ramsey holds a degree in social work from Scarritt College in Nashville, Tenn. and completed undergraduate work at Rocky Mountain College in Billings, Mont.
“It’s a blessing to return to and be able to give back to the community for all I have received,” he states in the release.
Ramsey is available to present information on Alzheimer’s disease, understanding memory loss and how to maintain your brain. She has presented for numerous clubs and service groups, most recently at the North Shore Rotary Club and Lion’s Club. She is available to meet with families for referral and support. Meetings can be scheduled by appointment at the Alzheimer’s Association office in Lihu‘e at 4303 Rice St., Suite C.
The Kaua‘i Memory Walk will be held Nov. 10 at Kukui Grove Center.
“We need the community and businesses to help us make this event and opportunity to acknowledge Kaua‘i’s hidden heroes — the persons with Alzheimer’s disease and their caregivers,” the release states.
The walk supports programs and services on Kaua‘i.
