Grace Morimoto
Grace Shizue Morimoto, of ‘Ele‘ele, died at Garden Isle Healthcare on Nov. 16, 2007, at the age of 92.
Born in Hanapepe, she was a retired sales clerk with Big Save.
She is survived by son Roy S. Morimoto of Wailua; grandchildren Michael and Shawn Morimoto; brother Shoji Yokoyama of Honolulu; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 1, at St. John’s Episcopal Church in ‘Ele‘ele, service officiated by Rev. Mary Lindquist will begin at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at Kauai Veterans Cemetery in Hanapepe. Aloha attire is suggested and flowers omitted.

Kevin Gonzales
Kevin Akeakamai Gonzales of Lihu‘e died at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on Nov. 26, 2007, at the age of 47.
Born in Los Angeles, Calif., on July 15, 1960, he worked for Northrop Corporation in California and was a home service technician with Sears on Kaua‘i.
He is survived by his wife Thalia Waiamau-Gonzales, daughters Callie Gonzales of Georgia and Makana Waiamau of Lihu‘e; parents Carlette Gonzales of California and Jose Gonzales of Colorado; brothers Dean, Warren, and Christian, and sister Moani, all of California; brothers-in-law Douglas (Wanda) Waiamau of Lihu‘e, Alton (Cathy) Waiamau of Honolulu; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be held on Saturday, Dec. 1, at Lihue Christian Church with visitation from 9 a.m. and services beginning at 10 a.m.
Kauai Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home assisted the Gonzales family with arrangements.
Wayne Soma
Wayne Yoshito Soma, of Kapa‘a, died Nov. 19, 2007, at Kuakini Medical Center at the age of 70.
Born Oct. 6, 1937, in Honolulu, he retired from the U.S. Air Force and the Hawai‘i Air National Guard in 1995 after 40 years of service. He was a retired radio maintenance technician with the Air Guard. He recently worked at the Kaua‘i Veterans Center in Lihu‘e.
He is survived by his wife Birgit R. Soma; sons Mark (Cynthia) Soma of California and Dirk (Rachel) Soma of Honolulu; daughter Chante (Ballard) Soma-Kalahiki of Texas and seven grandchildren. Also surviving are sisters Jackie Pactol, Linda Soma, and Gayle Bonham, all of Honolulu; uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Services are scheduled for Monday, Dec. 3, at Diamond Head Mortuary chapel with visitation at 9 a.m., services at 1 a.m. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Private inurnment will be at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific. Services on Kaua‘i are pending. The family suggests aloha attire.

Vivian Kekai “Coco” Brown, of Hilo, died Nov. 11, 2007, at Hilo Medical Center in Hilo.
Born in Kealakekua, Kona, on March 4, 1958, she was a professional entertainer and musician on Kaua‘i and the Big Island.
Visitation will be held on Friday, Nov. 30, at the Hospice of Hilo Chapel (1011 Waianuenue Avenue) from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., wake service will begin at 6 p.m. Visitation will continue on Saturday, Dec. 1, at the home of Verna Ka‘awa in Waiohinu, Hawai‘i, from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.; funeral service will begin at 9 a.m. Call 808-935-4707 for directions. Burial will follow at the Na‘alehu Community Cemetery in Na‘alehu, Hawai‘i. Casual attire is suggested.
She is survived by her mother Mary Mae Kaupu of Pahala; companion David Hanakeawe of Hilo; sons Michael (Jasmine) Brown of Kapa‘a; Derek Kau‘i Brown of Hilo, Malcolm (Charlene Cadiente) Brown of Koloa and Shawnsie Lee Aki of Hilo; daughters Brianne Lee (Malia) Kaupu of Ho‘okena, Vivian-Malia (Russell Isa) Brown of Hilo, and Mikela (Josh Preston) Brown of Kaua‘i; Larry (Dutchee) Kaupu Jr. of Mark Twain, McKinley (Michele) Kaupu of Ocean View and Rudolph (Corinne) Kaupu of Ocean View; sisters Mary Kaupu of Opihihale, Stephanie (Kevin) Kapupu-Ceasar of Pahala, Cheryllynn Kaneholani of Anahola, Eleanor Kaupu of Na‘alehu and Leslie (Joseph Kaneholani) Kaupu of Anahola; hanai sons Jeremy (Summer Lorenzo) of Mountain View and Moon Lake of Kapa‘a; hanai daughters Kamaka Davis of Mark Twain and Starlynn Kaupu of Anahola; hanai brother Roy Martinez of Puna and hanai sisters Lori Lynne Kawaauhau of Opihihale and Maile (Pio) Pua-Raquel of Honokaa; six grandchildren; numerous uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces and cousins.
