7:30 p.m. Sunday at the Church of the Pacific in Princeville
Erika Luckett is rounding third and heading home to finish her international tour with a performance at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the Church of the Pacific in Princeville. Erika ends her touring year on Kaua‘i after recent stops in Texas, Mexico, San Francisco, Italy and Croatia. With critically acclaimed new releases, “Awe” and “Breath” she continues to ignite passion and action in audiences around the globe.
Luckett creates a powerful expression of world-inspired music. Poetic and sensual, her voice conveys lyrical depth, and her fiery, innovative guitar playing creates an orchestra of sound with only six strings. Performing Songwriter magazine introduces her this way: “To be blessed with prolific songwriting skills and a captivating voice is one thing. But to absolutely master an instrument on top of that is indeed an enormous accomplishment.”
Whether singing in English, Spanish, French, Italian or Portuguese, with lyrics that capture the intimacy of our human experience and melodies that make distant lands feel like home, her songs invite the listener into terrain that is both vast and familiar.
Tickets are $20 at the door or in advance at Majestic Gems in Princeville and Cake in Kilauea.
New Year’s dinner / concert with Toni Childs
Emmy winner and three-time Grammy-nominated recording artist Toni Childs will give a special private concert to ring in the New Year at a spacious pavilion under stars. The evening begins with cocktails, followed by dinner and dessert, and ends with a bonfire and two-hour concert of Toni’s music, new and old.
In a recent press release Childs says, “I’m bringing my band from the Mainland to play, and I am putting together a very special New Year’s Eve celebration — Hawaiian style — on my land.”
On the back of every ticket, Child’s invites her audience to take the time to write out 10 wishes — four wishes for the planet and six things you wish for yourself. As a part of the celebration, and Childs’ Druid heritage, she plans to erect a special tree where the wishes will be hung.
Tickets are available at Papaya’s (north and eastside), Bounty Music in Kapa‘a and Scotty’s Music in Kalaheo. Tickets are $200 per couple and $125 per person. Those interested in reserving a New Year’s Eve ticket can contact Childs at toni@tonichilds.com.
