Here’s the word from the two Toms.
First, Tom Shigemoto of the AJA baseball league said there will be a game in Hanapepe and a game at Vidinha at the same time Sunday so everyone can enjoy the Super Bowl.
And for those who are trying to figure out what to do after an early breakfast, Tom Edlefsen of the Kiahuna Swim and Tennis Club said they will host a special tennis tourney for the Gustavus Men and Women Tennis teams who come here to visit each year … should be interesting. But, go early, the first serve is at 8 a.m., and Tom said it should be done by 10 a.m. so everyone has time for the Super Bowl.
Susan Pittman of Clayworks at Kilohana will be hosting her 14th Annual Souper Bowl event, and Kelvin Moniz of the Kaua‘i Food Bank (they’re the beneficiaries of this super event) is trying to figure out when is the best time to go … it starts at 11 a.m. and runs until 2 p.m. Now, what is Chef Andy’s last name? And what kind of soup?
Bridgette Arume is getting excited about the Eastside Family Summit coming up Saturday from 1 p.m. That should be enough time to get from KIF paddling and swimming. According to Bridgette, Gary Shimabukuro (kumu Mark Rossi also says “Shim-buck-a-roo”) will be here, and that’s always a winner. Will we see Theresa Koki out there?
Theresa was on hand with William Trugillo when Michelle Shofner launched the site-based mentoring program, Monday, at Kapa‘a Elementary School, and it was nice to see Warrior athletes like Kekoa Prem, Thomas Gausepohl and others become mentors for the younger students.
