Happy birthday to Albert Soto! Today is his special day, and if you have time, the Silver Bullets are cold!
Albert was enjoying the opening day of the Waimea High School Invitational Softball Tournament from his “senatorial” seat (yes, it’s under the shade), and hats off to Menehune coach Teddy Perreira and the Waimea Softball Booster Club who did a great job with the tourney.
Kori Sakamoto had the right idea — shave ice from the original Jojo’s. But where was ours? Kori was also at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center, where she came to deliver the birthday balloons for Kaulupono Girls’ Taylor Gaspar. And when she’s not in school, check her out at Lappert’s in Koloa (the white chocolate mac nut cookie is a winner!).
And since the softball was in Waimea, was good to see Kekaha School Principal Jason Yoshida, and Jeanne Warren, Yvonne Hosaka and all those smiling faces … even the opala detailers who had to make sure students put the right things in the right containers.
Hats off to Waimea Canyon School’s Miriam Albarado, who did a fantastic job coordinating their first Career Day as a middle school. Kehau Kato (haven’t seen her since community basketball) was there along with a host of other community professionals (Leesha Kawamura had to be back in Lihu‘e for a 1:30 appointment), and of course, Tom Clements (no Johnny Michael … when does he transfer out?) had to be there.
OK, ‘nuff said … today is the opening of KIF baseball, golf and tennis … lots to do!
