Gilmath Brede
Gilmath L. Brede of Lihu‘e died June 13, 2008, at Straub Hospital at the age of 33. Born Aug. 6, 1974, in Kaua‘i, he was an A.C.O. with Kauai Community Correctional Center.
He is survived by wife Sheri Brede, daughters Kainani Brede, Gilla Brede, Mikaela Brede and Meilina Brede; father William A. Brede Jr., sisters Deborah K. (Joseph) Pinero and Julieann N. (Gilbert) Balai, brothers William A. Brede III and Shane R. (Susan) Brede, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Family and friends may call from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 28, at Kapaa Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Memorial services will begin at 1:15 p.m. Burial to follow at Lihue Cemetery. Casual attire is suggested.
Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick Kauai Mortuary.
Roy Miyake
Roy Kenji Miyake of Hanama‘ulu died June 11, 2008, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 83. Born July 10, 1924, in Lihu‘e, he was the owner of Hanama‘ulu Cafe.
He is survived by wife Janet, son Wayne (Kathy) Miyake, daughters Lorna of Honolulu, Arleen and Debra (Koichi) Aramaki both of Hanama‘ulu; sister Lillian Miyake of Hanama‘ulu, six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Private services were held.
Kauai Memorial Gardens & Funeral assisted the Miyake family with arrangements.
Jules Ventura
Jules John Ventura of Kapa‘a died June 13, 2008, at the age of 46. Born Dec. 21, 1961, in Lihu‘e, he was employed by Kaua‘i County Beautification and Parks Division.
He was preceded in death by father Jules Ventura Jr. and brother Wayne Maurice Ventura.
He is survived by mother Regina O. Ventura of Kapa‘a, sisters Paulette Vierra of Wailua, Kitty (Vernon) Basuel of Wailua and Regina E. Ventura of Kapa‘a; brother Gregory (Linda) Ventura of Kilauea, sister-in-law Irene (Wayne) Ventura of El Cajon, Calif., nieces Veronica, Lenette, Brooke-Lynn, Lisa and Teresa; nephews Vernon II, Antony Jules (A.J.), Kawika, Cameron, Clayton and Blaise; grandnieces and nephews Tyra, Justin, Treston, Isaac, Colten, Ambrie, Logan, Chayse, Kaisjah, Kae-Lynn, Halea, Haven, Kawena, Kawehi, Keani, Kalae, Isaiah, Jenica, Evan, Caiden, Sadria and Melina; and best buddies Cindy Lou and Clayton.
Friends may visit with the family from 8 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. on Saturday, June 28, at St. Catherine’s Church. Mass will follow at 11 a.m.
The family requests that flowers be omitted. Casual attire is suggested.
