The Kamikaze, playing a doubleheader, dropped its opener 42-9 to the Gee’s Angels, and in the only boys game in the 13 Under division, Hanakila was a 38-19 winner over Westside in the 3 G’s Nation competitive basketball league.
All games were played at Kapa‘a High School with James Paik leading the Hanakila scoring with 9 points followed by Marlon Cudiamat and James Stevens chipping in 6 points each. Kelii Koa Baclayon finished with 5 points to round out the Hanakila scoring leaders.
Peterson Lahip and Christian Garma paced the Westside effort with 4 points each followed by Chavis Garma adding 3 points.
Pili Chun was the top gun for the Kamikaze in its dual loss, Chun dropping 4 points in the Kamikaze loss to the Angels, and improving to 7 points in the nail-biter against Kaulupono.
Shyanne Almarza followed with 3 points against the Angels, but was held to just a pair against Kaulupono.
Kawai Calderon joined Chun in leading the Kamikaze scoring against Kaulupono with Lele Silva adding 4 points, Gilian Gregorio and Shaylee Huni each finishing with 3 points.
Mahea Hanie-Grace lit up the scoreboards with an evening-high 23 points to lead the Angels over the Kamikaze. She was followed by Raquelle Matayoshi and Reggie McCabe who added 9 and 8 points, respectively.
Following Anacleto, Nicole Banasihan finished with 6 points followed by Kaelyn Kamakele-Aquino adding 4 points for Kaulupono. Lenaiah Banasihan, Mariah Oliver and Nicole Palacio each paired for the edge.
