Greeters are needed for next Friday when the 22 boats participating in the Kaua‘i Channel Race start appearing.
According to MaryAnn Holden of the Nawiliwili Yacht Club, the race’s host, each boat arriving must have a “greeter,” and she welcomes anyone interested in showing aloha to one, or more of the finishing boats.
The latest update on the race has 22 boats ranging in size from 30 feet to 65 feet competing in the 78-mile Kaua‘i Channel Race.
Boats will leave the Ko‘Olina Marina on O‘ahu’s Leeward side at 7 a.m. and are expected to start arriving at Nawiliwili Harbor by mid-afternoon on Aug. 8.
The finish line is an imaginary line off the jetty at the Nawiliwili Harbor and boats will be “greeted” by spectators and the NYC Race Committee from the jetty wall area of the harbor.
Tickets for the post-race party Saturday night are also still available.
