The project is a temporary measure that involves heavy equipment to fill and place sand bags along the roadway to protect the eroded shoreline.
The design and permitting phase for permanent erosion control is currently underway.
Shoreline Restoration of Hawai‘i Inc., an O‘ahu-based company, was awarded a $400,000 contract for the temporary repairs.
Work crews will be at the site Monday to Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Completion of the project is expected to take six to eight weeks, weather permitting.
Motorists are advised to exercise caution and expect delays while driving through the area.
