For the first time this election season, the field of candidates for mayor and Kaua‘i County Council were together for the Eco-Roundtable Candidates Forum, yesterday, at the War Memorial Convention Hall.
Dozens of residents packed the room to hear what the hopefuls had to say on issues primarily dealing with island sustainability.
The 19 council candidates and four mayoral candidates in attendance showed unanimous opposition to the Hawaii Superferry’s return to Kaua‘i without an independent environmental impact statement first.
The field also found common ground on the need to expand bus service, establish curbside recycling and ban pesticides in county parks.
