David Ishii, the 1990 Sony Open Winner, is among one of the 10 local Professional Golf Association pros who will be at the PGA Golf America Day, tomorrow at the Puakea Golf Course.
In addition to the instruction and golf clinics led by the PGA pros, the event offers a fun-filled day of free golf activities created to showcase the game of golf in a fun and relaxed atmosphere.
Presented by the PGA of America and the Aloha Section PGA, the PGA Play Golf America Day at Puakea Golf Course will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and is designed to provide free expert instruction to golfers of all ages and skill levels as well as introduce new golfers to the game and provide equipment testing from some of the best brands in golf.
Ishii is expected to do a presentation around noon and is one of the highlights of the day. The field of more than 10 PGA Professionals from the PGA Aloha Section will also provide 15-minute tune-ups and conduct demonstrations on all facets of the game.
Cobra, Titleist, Nike TaylorMade and Adams Golf are some of the golf name brands who will have representatives at the Puakea Golf Coure to provide hands-on testing of the latest products on the market.
Attendees will be able to test drivers on the range, wedges at the chipping area and putters on the practice green.
Representatives from the participating manufacturers will be on hand to provide club fitting and product information.
Additionally, attendees will have the opportunity to gather information on some of today’s most exciting golf participation programs that are part of the Play Golf America initiative as well as take part in special offers on golf, apparel and lessons from courses around Kaua‘i. Information about Juniors Play Free programs, National Women’s Week and PGA Free Lesson Month will also be available.
Play Golf America was designed to promote the game of golf among new and occasional adult golfers and was developed by the PGA of America with the support of allied associations including the LPGA, National Golf Course Owners Association, PGA Tour, USGA and others involved in the annual Golf 20/20 Conference.
The program utilizes the Web site to serve as a link for consumers to access fun, affordable and informative programs in their area.
Started in January, 2004, Play Golf America’s goal is to reach the millions of non-golfers who have expressed a desire to play, and the millions of occasional golfers who play between one and seven times per year.
