Kauai Community School for Adults is offering a Starwatch program “The Hawaiian Sky Tonight” taught by astronomy educator Rozlyn Reiner.
Through multimedia presentations, including images of the solar system and galaxy, discover the life cycle of stars and the Sun’s place in the Milky Way. Learn to recognize the constellations as they appear in the sky. Learn to use a sky map to locate and identify stars, constellations, planets and other celestial objects.
Hear legends about the stars and explanations of “special events” of the solar system.
The classroom presentation and instruction will last approximately 2 1/2 hours at Waimea High School. The class will then move to a nearby viewing site, to participate in the Starwatch activity (weather permitting).

3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Classroom presentation
5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Bring sack lunch to picnic at viewing site
6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Starwatch activity (weather permitting)
• Oct. 25 and Nov. 29:
Classroom presentation will begin at 2:30 p.m. and Starwatch activity at 6 p.m. due to earlier sunset.
Class size is limited so early registration is recommended by calling KCSA at 274-3390.
