There will be open registration from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., Dec. 30, Jan. 6 and 8, at the Hanapepe Soccer Field for boys and girls born before July 31 1997 to sign up for a new soccer team.
Parents must bring copy of their child’s birth certificate and medical card. Those interesting in playing for upcoming spring Hawai‘i Youth Soccer Association season boys or (coed) U12 team may come to the field or call coach Kevin Fune at 645-0215 with any questions.
Soccer pros to
host clinic
The ProXtreme soccer camp Kaua‘i will be visiting Vidinha Stadium in January. From Jan. 2 through 4, professionals Duke Hashimoto of the Atlanta Silverbacks, Kenji Treshuk of the Seattle Sounders and Mele French of the Pali Blues will host a soccer clinic to help young players build on their skills.
The clinic is for players aged 7 to 15 years old who play in all the various soccer clubs.
The cost for a full day’s registration is $180, half $130. There is a same-family discount at -$10 per player.

Kaua‘i senior quarterly tourney rescheduled
Due to rain, the fourth quarterly tournament for Kaua‘i Senior Golf Club members has been rescheduled for a later date. Originally planned for Nov. 29, inclement weather forced organizers to set the new date, Dec. 27, at the Wailua Golf Course.
Registration is still open for that day. Deadline for registration without a penalty is 5 p.m. on Dec. 17. The November established handicap will be used.
Entry fee is $7. This tournament is now open to seniors 50 years and older.
Free volleyball clinic
Na Holokai Volleyball Club and Kawaikini Charter School will be hosting a free volleyball clinic for boys and girls in grades 1 through 12 on Dec. 29 at Island School.
Conducting the clinic will be Colorado coach Pi‘i Aiu, a native of Kapa’a who is in his 12th season with the Buffaloes. Aiu has earned the Big 12 Coach of the Year award as well as the AVCA District V Coach of the Year award in 1997.
Session I for grades 1 through 7 will be from 9 a.m to 12 p.m.
Session II for the upper grades will be from 1 p.m to 4 p.m.
