Carla Thomas
Carla Thomas, Human Resource Director at Grand Hyatt Kaua‘i Resort & Spa, has been elected president of the Society for Human Resource Management Hawai‘i Chapter. SHRM Hawai‘i is a nonprofit trade organization representing more than 1,300 human resource professionals in Hawai‘i.
Julia Hall
The Kaua‘i County Red Cross office has a new county director on board —Julia Hall of Kapaa — who started in this position on Jan. 6.
A resident of Kaua‘i, Hall is committed to ensuring that Red Cross services to people in the County of Kaua‘i continue to be provided and improved in order to keep our communities safe, healthy and prepared. Her knowledge of the local community will allow her to identify partnerships and resources and increase awareness of the Red Cross in Kaua‘i County. Hall most recently worked with the Kaua‘i Food Bank.

Kimberly Lord
CB Richard Ellis has appointed Kimberly Lord, CSM, CMD (B), as asset services managing director, succeeding Marlene De Costa who has chosen to accept an offer of early retirement. Lord will also continue her responsibilities as managing director retail services in Hawai‘i, leadership of the National Strategic Retail Advisory team and oversight of the Hawai‘i Retail brokerage.
Both Lord and De Costa joined CBRE as Partners in 2001. Lord was integral in developing a retail specialty group and Resort Retail Services both with a focus on resort retail properties, tourist driven shopping centers, hotels, and tenant representation.
De Costa is a past president of BOMA (Building Owners and Managers Association of Hawai‘i), the Hawai‘i chapter of IREM (Institute of Real Estate Management) and former state director of ICSC (International Council of Shopping Centers) as well as serving on many community and charitable boards.
Mary Holmes
Mary Holmes has been named Po‘ipu Bay Golf Course’s Employee of the Year for 2008. Holmes is a pro shop clerk and since she started with Po‘ipu Bay in 2005, she has achieved a perfect attendance record at her job.
Holmes was the Employee of the Quarter for the second quarter of 2008. Other Employee of the Quarter honorees in 2008 were John Fink, first quarter; Renato Lim, third quarter; and Marty Rice, fourth quarter.
Po‘ipu Bay’s quarterly and annual employee awards are based on nominations made by department supervisors, commending employees in the areas of attendance, conscientiousness, attitude, efficiency, innovation, guest service and aloha spirit.
