Jacob Reichert
Jacob Reichert of Kapa‘a died Feb. 11, 2009, at age 95. He was born April 29, 1913, in Hirschville, N.D.
He is survived by son Kenneth (Marta) Reichert of Kapa‘a, daughter Sister Carol Reichert of Lihu‘e, grandson Nicholas (Zena) Reichert of California and three great-grandchildren.
Services at 10 a.m. followed by visitation on Monday, Feb. 16, at Kauai Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home.

Francisco Balilea
Francisco F. Balilea of Kapa‘a died Feb. 10, 2009, at his residence at age 97. Born Oct. 16, 1911, in Badoc, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, he was a groundskeeper.
He was preceded in death by first wife Carmen Balilea.
He is survived by wife Lorna Balilea, daughters Felicitas (Federico) Fagarang and Irene (Eugene) Perez, sons Elmer “Bala” Balilea and Charleston (Adeline) Balilea, 11 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Friends may visit with the family from 6-9 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 20, at Borthwick Mortuary Chapel in Koloa, and again from 8-9:45 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 21, at St. Catherines Church in Kapa‘a where Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m.
Burial to follow at St. Catherines Church Cemetery.
Casual attire is suggested.

Karen Valpoon
Karen Aloma Valpoon of Anahola died Feb. 3, 2009, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at age 62. Born Aug. 20, 1946, in Honolulu, she was a human resources assistant with Hilton Kauai.
She was preceded in death by companion Richard “Dick” Wildman, and parents Amil and Florence Valpoon.
She is survived by brother Amil Tinoa (Beverly) Valpoon of Anahola; sisters Dr. Marie (John) Leekley of Wisconsin and Deborah (Pat) Valpoon-Colman of Anahola; nephews and nieces Ekolu and Nani Valpoon of Hanalei, Mike and Liz Coleman of Moloka‘i, Travis and Alia Coleman of Hanalei, Carla Coleman of Anahola, K.J. Leekley of Honolulu and Tracey Ann Leekley of Wisconsin; grandnieces and grandnephews Teanna and Cody Valpoon, Josh and Cody Maka, Analese, Nadia and Nicki Coleman, Kekai Phetteplace; and uncle Archie, Aaron and Armand Soken of Honolulu.
Visitation from 10-noon on Saturday, Feb. 21, at Anahola Hawaiian Church; service at noon.
Burial of Karen’s ashes will be done privately at a later date.
Casual attire is suggested and flowers will be accepted.

Eldon Kohatsu
Eldon Naoto Kohatsu Sr. of Kaua‘i died Jan. 27, 2009, at Straub Clinic and Hospital at age 59. Born Nov. 17, 1949, in Honolulu, he was a former Hopaco warehouse manager.
He is survived by sons Eldon N. (Rolinda) Kohatsu Jr., Michael H.K. (Lani) Kohatsu of Honolulu, Brian T. Kohatsu and Dean K.N. (Dayna) Kohatsu of Kaua‘i; daughter Marisa T.U. (James) Berardi of Kaua‘i; father Gary N. Kohatsu; brothers Wesley R. Kohatsu of Honolulu, Garrett S. Kohatsu of Kaua‘i; sister Sharleen K. (Arthur) Isoshima; 23 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Visitation from 10-11 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 16, at the Faith Baptist Church in Kailua, Honolulu; services from 11-1 p.m.
The family requests casual attire and no flowers.
There will be a second service on Kaua‘i. Visitation from 8-9 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 21, at the Aloha Church (makai side) across from Taco Bell in Lihu‘e; services from 9-11 a.m.
He will be laid to rest with his wife at a later date at Kalapaki Bay Park Memorial Garden.
Sadako Tabuchi
Sadako Matsuwaki Tabuchi of Koloa died at Hale Kapuna Heritage Home on Jan. 7, 2009, at age 93. Born Aug. 25, 1915, in Lawa‘i, she retired from Koloa Big Save Snack Bar.
She is survived by sons David (Janet) Tabuchi of California and Raymond O. (Eileen) Tabuchi of California; brothers Masaru (Masue) Matsuwaki of Kaua‘i, Chuck (Kay) Matsuwaki of Kaua‘i, Gary (Lillian) Matsuwaki of O‘ahu, Y. Guy (Alice) Matsuwaki of O‘ahu, Alex Matsuwaki of O‘ahu; sister Yoshie (Hank) Sato of Kaua‘i; and four grandchildren.
Private services were held.
Kauai Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home assisted the Matsuwaki Tabuchi family with the arrangements.
Luis Moises
Luis Ramirez Moises of Puhi died Feb. 12, 2009, at his residence at age 88. Born Aug. 25, 1920, in Narvacan, Ilocos Sur, Philippines, he was an irrigator for Lihu‘e Plantation and a carpenter.
He is survived by wife Clarita Moises; children Lorenzo (Marlene) Moises, Douglas (Charmaine) Moises, Letitia (Russell) Kyono, Sam (Holly) Moises, Lucky Mark (Donna) Moises and Sei-San Moises; sisters Victoria Clarin and Jovencia (Tom) Esperon; sister-in-law Jovita Moises; 15 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 21, at Immaculate Conception Church; Mass at 10 a.m.
Burial to follow at Kalapaki Bay Memorial Park.
