Susan Kali
Susan Mae Kali of Hanapepe died Feb. 20, 2009, at Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital at age 70. She was born on April 30, 1938.
She is survived by husband Benjamin K.K. Kali Sr.; sons Benjamin (Josephine) Kali Jr., Joseph (Staci) Kali, Mitchell (Laurie) Kali, Michael (Nicole) Kali and Jeffrey Kali; daughters Bernadette (Brian Pacheco) Vea and Carnation (Kawika) Kali Kilar; 20 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sister Marian Silva; and numerous nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, brother-in-law and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family from 9-10:45 a.m. on Friday, March 6, at Borthwick Mortuary Chapel in Koloa where services will be celebrated at 11 a.m.
Burial to follow at Hanapepe Hawaiian Cemetery.
Borthwick Kauai Mortuary is handling the arrangements.
Miyako Takenaka
Miyako Takenaka of Kapa‘a died Feb. 19, 2009, at her residence at age 83. Born July 4, 1925, in Kilauea, she retired as a floral designer with Miyoshi’s Orchids.
She was preceded in death by daughter June Goda.
She is survived by husband Shoichi Takenaka; daughters Lorna (Wayne) Nishi of Kapa‘a, Diane (Glenn) Sato of Kapa‘a; son-in-law Gary Goda of Kaneohe; brother Tatsuo “It” (Itchan) Tamura of Kaua‘i; sisters Michie Yonekura of O‘ahu, Masayo Yoshihara of Kaua‘i, Chieko Ota of Kaua‘i; sisters-in-law Eleanor and Elaine Tamura; grandchildren Reina (Daniel) Kurisu, Kristi Sato and Scott Sato; one great-grandson; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Private services were held.
Kauai Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home assisted the Takenaka family with arrangements.
